On a normal weekday there is usually a good choice of aircraft. A fixed date in July or August with a large group is a different proposition, and the earlier we know, the better the options.

Nantucket in July and August creates the busiest general aviation markets in the country, and ramp and parking space are the main constraints on a peak weekend rather than aircraft availability. It is best to ask early for a summer date, and even earlier for a holiday weekend.

- FAR Part 135 charter operators for traditional private aircraft, or FAR Part 121 for airliner-size and group trips (or the foreign equivalent on international legs)
- The operator’s safety and incident history
- That the pilots are experienced, qualified and current on the aircraft type you will be flying on
